THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC ORCHESTRA, INC. Tulsa, OK is a non-profit corporation and formed in 1971. Initially we started as musical forum for musicians to get together who hadn’t played in a while and rehearse big band charts, etc. But shortly after, the band started getting requests for playing at dances, local events and functions.
Over the years the Sounds of Music Orchestra has been very fortunate to have had so many wonderful singers and musicians participate with our group. One of Glenn Miller’s original Modernaires Ralph Brewster played and sang with the band from 1984 until his passing in 1990. Also, the late Larry Reasor who founded Reasor’s Food shared his wonderful musical talents on trombone with us and some many other notable musicians whose sole mission, like today, is to keep Big Band music alive and well.
